It is produced by melting basalt rock at high temperatures and then drawing it into single filaments through a platinum-rhodium alloy bushing. These single filaments are immediately gathered into a parallel, untwisted bundle of multi-filament strands, without any intermediate steps like bundling or twisting.

Used for reinforcing asphalt-concrete (covering in construction, reconstruction and repair of airport runways, highways and any pavements, pedestrian ways, road inclines and banks).
