Basalt fiber needled filter material base cloth structure
Basalt fiber filtration materials are generally produced by processing blends of basalt staple fibers with other high-performance staple fibers using a needling process. Although the functionality of basalt fiber needled filter media is later enriched by other physical or chemical methods (e.g. coating or coating materials, particles, etc.), due to the needling process, the filter media are only capable of filtering larger flue gas particle diameters. At this stage, basalt fiber needle-punched filtration materials have more applications in the overall felt structure and less applications in the base cloth/felt structure, and the selection of base cloth is relatively single and concentrated. Meanwhile, in terms of the performance of basalt fiber needled filtration materials, there are very few studies on the improvement of wear resistance. Therefore, it is an important direction for future research to change the raw material and structure of the base cloth in the base cloth/felt structure, and to design the base cloth with excellent abrasion resistance, permeability and tensile properties, so as to improve the overall performance of basalt fiber needled filtration materials.
Basalt fiber products for other fields
Although basalt fibers have been used in road construction, filtration materials and other fields, but the fiber itself has a smooth surface, stiffness, resulting in poor fiber spinning and can not be colored, and the weak ability to combine with the matrix material, prone to tingling sensation, etc., so at this stage of basalt fibers in the safety protection clothing, as well as automotive, railroad tracks and other fiber reinforced composite materials have not been used on a large scale. In the future, in the realization of the comfort performance of protective clothing, we can further take the yarn structure as an entry point, such as the use of core yarn and other structures, or the introduction of better spinning fibers (such as cotton fibers, viscose fibers, etc.), the development of both excellent comfort performance and high temperature performance of basalt fiber fabrics. In terms of basalt fiber reinforced composites, on the basis of surface modification of fiber reinforcing body or resin matrix modification, we can further explore the surface treatment method that can guarantee the modification effect without affecting the overall mechanical properties of composites; we should also strengthen the research on the basic mechanical properties of basalt fibers and their products under different loads and environments, and strengthen the leading role of standards to lay the theoretical foundation of large-scale application of basalt fibers in the fields of automobiles and railroads. Lay the theoretical foundation for the large-scale application of basalt fiber in the field of automobile and railway track.
